Runs

A Run consists of the end-to-end process of executing each Test, Action, and Step sequentially, then processing data to produce results.

Initiating a Run

A Run is initiated by pressing the "Run Test", "Run Action", and "Run Step" button on the item's profile page. The following links give instructions on how to initiate a Test, Action, and Step Run:

Run Report

The Run Report provides a summary, totals, and metadata associated with a Run. Additional information like domains & headers & cookie are consolidated and displayed as part of the Run Report.

Results Tab

The "Results" tab displays Requests, along with the result of each Condition that the Request was tested against. This tab also displays the total number of Conditions that were tested, and the counts of their results.

Conditions Tab

The "Conditions" tab displays a list of Conditions that and the results of their evaluations during a Run, along with the total number of passed/failed conditions.

Requests Tab

The "Requests" tab displays a list of Requests along with their respective test results. The total number of Requests, including the number that passed and failed are displayed.

Domains Tab

The "Domains" tab displays a list of domains that requests were sent to during that Run, along with the total number of requests that were made to that domain.

Headers Tab

The "Headers" tab displays the headers that were observer in requests during that Run, along with the different values of the headers.

Track Header

The button will show each occurence of a specific header in the resquest and response. This allows the tracking of a header throughout the run. The example below shows occurences of the 'etag' header.

Cookies Tab

The "Cookies" tab displays the cookies that were observer in requests during that Run, along with the different values of the cookies.

Third Party Cookies

Third party cookies, typically used for tracking, that are observed during a run are highlighted.

The following popular third party cookies will be identified:

Track Cookie

The button will show each occurence of a specific cookie in the resquest and response. This allows the tracking of a cookie throughout the run. The example below shows the 'NID' cookie first showing up in the response of a request to 'https://www.google.com/'. The 'NID' cookie and value is then sent in the following requests to 'google.com' domains.

SSL Tab

The "SSL" tab displays the results of an SSL scan. Insecure protocols and ciphers are identified by a warning icon .

Inscure SSL/TLS Protocols

Recommended secure SSL/TLS Protocols include TLS 1.2 and 1.3. In late 2018, all major browser vendors announced plans to deprecate TLS 1.0 and 1.1 by the first half of 2020. Google deprecated TLS v1.0 and v1.1 in Chrome 72 (released January 30, 2919). Chrome versions 84 (released July 14, 2020) and above present an interstitial warning for these protocols, and support will be fully removed in May 2021. Widespread browser support of earlier SSL/TLS versions, such as SSL v3, is long gone. While TLS 1.2 is currently the most widely-used version of the SSL/TLS protocol, TLS 1.3 (the latest version) is already supported in the current versions of most major web browsers.

Inscure Cipher/Key Length

Cipher suites that offer at least 128-bit encryption, or stronger are considered secure. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) also recommends that that all TLS implementations move away from cipher suites containing the DES cipher (or its variants) to ones using AES.

Ports Tab

The "Ports" tab displays the results of a Port scan. Insecure protocol ports are identified by a warning icon .

Insecure protocol ports include the following:

Port Protocol
21 FTP
23 Telnet
53 DNS
67 DHCP
68 DHCP
80 HTTP
161 SNMP
1080 SOCKS
6665 IRC
6669 IRC
Storage Tab

The "Storage" tab displays browser Session Storage and Local Storage values that are observed during a run.
